Question:
I’m having problems sending email. What’s wrong ?
Answer:
Several large Internet providers, such as Telia and Bredbandsbolaget, have chosen to block access to external SMTP servers (outgoing mail servers), like our SMTP servers. We recommend that all customers use their Internet provider’s SMTP servers (for example, smtp.chello.se for Chello’s customers). Contact your Internet provider if you don’t know which SMTP server you should switch to. Note that the SMTP server is only a setting in your email program and doesn’t affect how your email is sent or received. Here are some SMTP servers that might work:
| Algonet | smtp.algonet.se |
| Bahnhof | smtp.bahnhof.se |
| Bostream | mailrelay.bostream.com |
| Bredbandsbolaget | smtp.bredband.net |
| Broadway | smtp.broadway.se |
| Carambole ADSL | adslmail.carambole.com |
| Carambole, dial-up/ISDN | smtp.telenor.se |
| Chello | smtp.chello.se |
| Com Hem | mail1.comhem.se |
| GlobeCom | mail-extern.globecom.net |
| Glocalnet | smtp.glocalnet.net |
| Macab Home | smtp-extern.globecom.net |
| Home | smtp.home.se |
| Song | nw-smtp.songnetworks.se |
| Spray | smtp.spray.se |
| Tele2 | smtpserver.swip.net |
| Telenor | smtp.telenor.se |
| Telenordia, ADSL | adslsmtp.tninet.se |
| Telenordia, dial-up | smtp.tninet.se |
| Telia | smtprelay1.telia.com/mail1.telia.com |
| Tiscali | smtp.tiscali.se |
| Upc | smtp.chello.se |
| Utfors | hem.utfors.se |
| Vodafone/Europolitan | smtp.euromail.se |
| Wineasy | nw-smtp.wineasy.se |
| Xpress On-Line | mail.xpress.se |
Question:
I can’t send or receive email. What’s wrong?
Answer:
Make sure you are using the correct account information. The following must be entered exactly using upper and lower cases.
- Outgoing email server (SMTP server): normally your Internet provider’s SMTP server
- Incoming email server: see your account information
- Correct account name and password
- Also make sure that you’re properly connected to the Internet
Question:
My email box isn’t emptied or it’s full. What’s wrong and how do I fix it?
Answer:
This is probably caused by one of the following.
- You have chosen to save email on the server in your email program (Outlook, for example). This can fill your account to the limit. To remedy this, change the settings so the account is emptied each time you download your email, or shorten the account-emptying interval.
- If you have received large emails and didn’t download them to your email program immediately, the account can fill up. If this is a recurring problem, you can purchase extra space uder Optional Services.
- If you use webmail, it could be set so that email you send is saved in the sent folder and email you delete ends up in the trash folder. These email messages take away from your total amount of space. Delete these messages to solve the problem.
Question:
How do we send and receive email from a computer?
Answer:
Basically, you have an Internet subscription (an Internet connection) and an email program. You can download an email program here at the Customer Website. If you don’t currently have an Internet subscription, you can get a free one at Sprayand Tele2. You can also send and receive email via webmail. You don’t need any other program besides a web browser for that.
Question:
I receive duplicates and the email client hangs. What’s wrong ?
Answer:
This could be because you lose contact with our server. Email programs aren’t very forgiving of errors and can hang or download duplicates of email messages. Make sure you are properly connected to the Internet and are using the correct account information.
Question:
How large can my outgoing emails be?
Answer:
That depends on the outgoing mail server (SMTP server) you use. Usually, you use your Internet provider’s SMTP server, so the limit would be set by them. The limit is commonly 10 MB.
Question:
How large can my incoming emails be?
Answer:
That depends on the space limits of your email account. The space you have varies depending on which system you are on. If you are unsure, check with a system administrator or contact us.
Question:
Where can I find my log-in information?
Answer:
That depends on which email system you are on. But always begin looking in the control panel.
